1. THE DIVINE MESSAGE - MESSAGE FROM POOJYASHREE SHREE Amma - THE ULTIMATE LIBERATOR BESTOWED BY LORD SHRI KRISHNA!

Radhekrishna!

Blessings to one and all in the world.

There are many types of Bhakthi. Of them, the highest form of Bhakthi is the Prema Bhakthi. Anything and everything we do should be first dedicated to the Almighty. Be it eating food or sleeping for one’s own self. But, they must be done for the sake of God. While doing it for God,  the egoism “I”, will not be present. When there is no ego, there is no disappointment. Currently, God has instructed in this way, hence accept it, which is the most appropriate. Likewise, the great devout, Mahan Desikan, had immense devotion on God, unattachment on worldly matters and enormous tolerance. Oh! It is a testing time, and so, will follow the path which God has destined for us. There is no need to cross-question regarding this. He is taking care of everything. As we wouldn’t care for which we do not attach much importance, we should not get entangled in it. For all these years, when God has been taking care of everything and sustaining Hindu Dharma, will HE let us down now? One should not get bonded, but think, well, there is some reason behind all these and should chant God’s Name at all times.

Mahan Desikar had to undergo many hurdles while in the process of doing Bhakthi. In those days also atrocities were done by wicked demons. In the same way, there were Rakshasas like Ravana during Lord Ram's period, Kamsa during Lord Krishna’s period, which were all different types of atrocities. Similarly, Mahan Desikar was also not spared and the people will never spare since they cannot accept the hard truth. They can easily accept the artificial or the untruth and will get immune to it. For hygienic reasons and matter of culture, washing legs while entering the house on returning from outside, refraining from wearing slippers in the house, and not sporting untied hair (by ladies), is supposed to be adhered to, but they do not accept and disregard it. People want to follow living manners, which are very comfortable for them and abide only those, which are favourable to them. However, their conscience knows that they are indulging in wrong manners but outwardly will not accept it. These are the human trends. Great Mahatmas do not bother for all these and do not give importance.

As they constantly chant Bhagavan Naama and do Bhakthi, will not attach prominence to these matters. In the same manner, Mahan Desikar is profound on spreading Bhakthi and was doing His Karma (duties). But, they were not able to accept it and were jealous. A wizard tries to test Mahan Desikar. Mahan Desikar, though, financially a poor brahmin, is with enormous fame. He somehow wanted to destroy Mahan Desikar. Now, we are aware of the tested times for honesty and truth. But, people do not want to accept it and we understand the same.

Likewise, many people including a snake charmer were there during Mahan Desikar’s time also to disturb Him.  A wizard, who considers himself to be a scholar and an expert in all trades and tricks and who loses in debate with Mahan Desikar is not able to accept the defeat. It is true, as some consider their devotion to be fair. As their foundation is not strong enough, they were not able to understand the true sense of devotion. When they are not able to understand the true sense of Bhakthi, they are subjected to jealousy and anger. Somehow they try to put an obstacle. But, God never lets down the true Bhakthaas. The devotees and Mahatmas know it very well. God never disheartens them at any cost. When some people are in the web of worldly pleasures and forget God, are to be bowed down and prostrated. When such great concepts of Bhakthi are given less importance and have the confidence of doings things rightly, are superiors to us. Such people who say are not in need of Bhakthi can be bowed. Radhekrishna.

A debater (wizard), who disliked Mahan Desikar’s Bhakthi decided to destroy Him. While debating at the bank of a pond, he loses. He drinks the water from the pond with such an intention that Mahan Desikar’s stomach should get bloated and burst. Mahan Desikar could predict the wizard’s intention when He noticed that His stomach was enlarging. Immediately He chants the Bhagavan Naamaa and smiles within Himself saying Hey, sinner! You are indulging in such an act! There was a pillar nearby and Mahan Desikar pierces it with his fingernail and all the water pours out of the pillar and gradually the stomach gets deflated. Mahan Desikar again smiles within Himself. We see such egoistic persons and jealous people, what to say about them? Since it is God who should always be victorious. Truth should triumph. With God’s grace He overcomes the obstacle. When the wizard realizes this, he begs to pardon him and accepts his folly. In such indulgence of torturing has made him understand the mistake and is blessed to be Mahan Desikar’s disciple under His shelter.

While observing each and every incidents of Mahan Desikar, we come to know of His tolerance, steadiness and the unconditional faith on God. Hence, all of us while listening to the greatness of Mahan Desikar are blessed with the rewards. With the unconditional faith on God, everyone will live happily with his or her family members. This is true. Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna.

2. MAHATMAS - NEW BHAKTACHARITRAS EACH MONTH

India is the holy land with so many bhaktas (devotees). When we go through the Indian history, there must be a bhakta in every period. That is the greatness of this sacred land. Bhaktas are the role model for all the bonded souls. They enjoy their life in a perfect way. Bhaktas surrender themselves to the Lotus feet of Lord. By hearing or reading bhaktas' divine story, the bonded soul is enlightened to come out of the worldwide bondages.

Radhekrishna! Sincere chanting and listening to the great stories of devotees will surely give a peace of mind to everybody, even in this 21st century. So many people think that listening to the devotee's stories is a waste of time and there is no benefit at all. If somebody wants to realize the power of bagawan, first of all they must listen bhaktha charithram [stories of devotees]. There are so many advantages in listening to baktha charithram.

Lord Vishnu, whose consort is Goddess Lakshmi is the very embodiment of kindness. Only because of His immense kindness, there have been incarnations of His devotees, which are the place for His Divine pranks filled with the presence of Supreme pleasure. Of the several great devotees, many of them were in family life and many of them have been set right by women, while many of them after a certain period of time chose the right path on their own. Radhekrishna! Everything was Bhagavaan’s divine wish. Likewise, Parakaalan also known as Neelan obliged all the conditions of Kumudhavalli and accepted

“Vaishanva Siddhantham”. The rituals of sanctification known as ‘Panchasamskaaram’ were done in the most befitting manner.

As said by Kumudhavalli he offered food (Thadhi Aaraadhanam) to 1008 Shri Vaishnavaas daily.

aaraadHanaanaam sarveshaam vishnOraaraadHanam param

thasmaath paratharam prOktham thadheeyaaraadHanam nrupa

[“Worshipping of Lord Vishnu is considered to be most acclaimed than all other worships. Serving His devotees is considered to be much more commendable”].

Therefore, nurturing the wishes of the devotees is considered to be more laudable than admiring the Almighty. Because, for Bhagavaan, devotees are the most affectionate. Those who serve the devotees are the most lovable to Bhagavaan. Such is the greatness of His benevolence. In the same way, Parakaalan adhered to Kumudhavalli’s conditions and offered food (Thadhi Aaraadhanam) to the Shri Vaishnavaas. This is the strength of the womenfolk. In Bhagavath Geetha, Lord Krishna says, I am the intelligence of women. If a women decides, she can set right even great sinners. She can even change a person craving for lust into a great devotee. Thus women are very strong. Kumudhavalli being a great devotee could place such wise conditions. Parakaalan also accepted the conditions. Conditions are to be put forth in such a manner that they are accepted. Just to place

Conditions are different to that of placing it in an acceptable manner. Kumudhavalli uttered in most beautiful manner. Parakaalan was attracted towards her youth and effective way of telling and obliged to the conditions.

Parakaalan offered food to 1008 Shri Vaishnavaas daily. He accepted the Sreepaadhatheertham [the holy water of washing their feet]. It is considered that the Sreepaadhatheertham of the devotees is as sanctified as that of Haripaadhatheertham [the holy water of washing the feet of Bhagavaan, ShriHari]. Thus, Parakaalan was in eternal bliss by accepting the Sreepaadhatheertham and having the leftover food of the devotees as Prasaadam. Everyday, 1008 Shri Vaishnavaas were served with food and offerings whatever they desired.  Parakaalan did not have any sort of worry, confusion or fear in doing so.  To witness the glow on the face of Kumudhavalli in happiness, Parakaalan performed all these works.  Kumudhavalli also was moved for the benevolence showered upon by the Bhagavaan.  Parakaalan belongs to fourth sect, the Shudhraas.  While performing these activities, the wealth started reducing and he utilized the levy amount payable to King, for serving of food (Thadhi Aaraadhanai) daily.  Thadhi Aaraadhanai work was being carried daily in such a high note in ThiruvaaLi Thirunagari.  The Shri Vaishnava devotees in large numbers were being offered Thadhi Aaraadhanam daily.  These devotees listened to Parakaalan and in turn personified with preaching such as “Swasthi vachanam” and blessed him.  Gradually, Parakaalan also started realizing the divinity and was immersed in deep thought of devotion.

Some of the spies of King Chozha informed him about Parakkalan utilizing the levy amount for such Thadhi Aaaraadhanai work.  Radhekrishna!  The Chozha king became furious for this injustice meted out by Parakaalan and not depositing the levy amount in the treasury.  In such state of anger, the King sent some persons for the collection of levy amount from Parakaalan.  These persons were gleefully welcomed by Parakaalan and were offered all sorts of hospitality and delayed in paying the levy amount.  However they were insisting for the levy amount.  Parakaalan promised them to pay in the next morning which was being postponed to afternoon, evening, next day and so on and started saying the time is not ripe enough to deposit now and in this manner was giving one or other excuses. However, offering of food (Thadhi Aaraadhanai) was carried out daily without any scantiness.  The persons who had come to collect the levy amount noticed that though the amount is not being paid, the work of offering food to Shri Vaishnavaas is being carried out in the usual manner and showed their anger towards Parakaalan, also known as Neelan.   Since Parakaalan belonged to sect of Kshathriya (warrior) he also became furious and did not like the behaviour of king’s very ordinary persons and he also retorted and created scare amongst them for demanding levy amount from him. The king’s men were scared, as they are well aware of the valor of Parakaalan.  They left the place of Neelan and reported to the king that Parakaalan did not pay the levy amount but was giving one or other excuses, though the work of offering food (Thadhi Aaraadhanai) to 1008 Shri Vaishnavaas (devotees) was being carried out without any hindrance in a grand manner. Innumerable varieties of food, cloth, garlands, perfumes were being offered to the devotees by Parakaalan, though is not interested in depositing the levy amount.

The Chozha king became still furious as he had made Parakaalan as the leader of the kingdom of Thirumangai and sent 6000 warriors of great valor to imprison Parakaalan.  They were of great valor and proceeded to imprison Parakaalan.  This was known to Parakaalan and became furious to know of his capture.  The battle continued in a most dreaded manner.  Parakaalan is the incarnation of Bhagavaan’s Bow known as Saaarngam and the battle continued in the most furious manner and no one could decide as to who will be victorious, as battles are fought only in this manner. However, the battle between Parakaalan and the king’s men was fought in such a manner that there was no sign of king’s men being victorious.  Parakaalan was most powerful, full of valour and fearless.  Parakaalan became victorious and drove away the king’s men.  The king also sent the warriors once again and in this manner had sent seven times.  However Parakaalan was the victorious each and every time, because of the blessings of Shri Vaishnavaas in the form of Swasthi vachanam for the service he had offered to them by way of Thadhi Aaraadhanai which made him more powerful.  Hence, it is said that the blessings of devotees is an exceptional one as they are always in the thought of Bhagavaan and doing constant chanting. It is so special that it cannot be changed even by Bhagavaan  Himself.. As Parakaalan had the blessings of the devotees he became victorious in everything.

Though the King had sent the warriors for seven times, they were defeated in all the occasions.  These king’s men reported to the King that they could not wage a battle with Parakaalan, which made the king annoyed, and he decided to set out himself for a battle with Parakaalan.  A Chief, known as Shreedharan, said to the king that he need not set out for the battle and he himself would imprison Thirumangai mannan and the king need not be worried for this.  Accordingly Sreedharan set out for the battle with powerful army and made a wish of defeating Parakaalan and imprisoning him.  A time has ripened for a big battle.  Parakaalan also set out for the battle and did not bother about the size of the opponent’s army.  The most   surprising note is that at any stage of battle the offering of food (Thadhi Aaraadhanai) continued without any hindrance.  Parakaalan also set out for the battle. Soon, all the demi-gods assembled to witness the battle in their respective vehicles.  The battle was waged between Shreedharan’s army of king and Parakaalan in the land.  Parakaalan climbed in his horse known as ‘Aadalmaa” and sets out for waging a battle. Whenever Parakaalan rode the horse Aadalmaa, it would gallop speedily. The Aadalmaa horse of Parakaalan was superior to that of Uchhaishtravas, horse of Indran.  Parakaalan had trained the horse in such a fashion.  He set out for the battle in his horse. The demi-gods noticing, knew that he would be a great devotee of Bhagavaan and should not be deprived of any good effects and sang Mangala vachanam and Swasti vachanam.  They blessed him in such a grand manner.  Let Paravaasudevar protect you from behind, Thirukkurungudi Nambi or Thirunaraiyur Nambi from the front, the presiding deity of Srirangam from the right side and Saurirajan deity from the left side.  Let Damodaran protect your abdomen.  Let  Thiruvarumaarban protect your chest, pleasing shouldered Bhagavaan ( Sundhara ThOludaiyaan) protect your shoulders. Let Hayagreevan protect your wisdom. Let Bhagavaan Parthasarathi protect all parts of your body. Let Pundarikaakshar protect your eyes. Let Mukundan protect your beautiful face.  In this way Prakaalan was blessed by all.

When one associates with the Bhakta sangam, even the demigods bless which is the strength of a sathsangam.  The sathsangam of offering of food (Thadhi Aaraadhanai) to 1008 Shri Vaishnavaas daily had made even the demi gods to bless him which is the speciality.  In Bhagavadham, it is said that even if you get  half of a second of sathsangam in the materialistic world that is considered to be the most valuable wealth.  So the sathsangam which  he was benefited by offering food to 1008 Shri Vaishnavaas protected him.

At the same time Kumudhavalli was also a great devotee.  She prayed to Bhagavaan and to the Shri Sudarshana chakram to protect Neelan from the weapon of chakram, Bhagavaan’s bow, the Saarngam from the arrows of enemies. Let Bhagavaan’s conch protect you from the noise made by enemies. Let Bhagavaan’s gadhai known as Kaumodhagi protect you from all sorts of dangers.  A sword of Bhagavaan, ‘Naandhagam’ protect you from the swords in the hands of the enemies. In this way Kumudhavalli also prayed to Bhagavaan saying the Swasthi vachanam.  The prayer of all these demi-gods and Kumudhavalli made Thirumangai mannan glitter and shine. Parakaalan  set out to wage a battle in his horse known as Aadalmaa. A furious battle took place as in the same manner a battle between Karadhooshanaa and Sri Ramachandramurthy in Janasthanam.  Everybody was witnessing as what would be the outcome of the battle. All were anxious to know the outcome of this petrified battle just as were petrified when Bhagavaan Shri Rama was waging a battle all alone with the karadhooshanaa. A furious battle started! Let us wait to see who was victorious till the next month. Radhekrishna!     Radhekrishna!

3. KRISHNAM VANDE JAGADHGURUM - EXTRACTS FROM THE HOLY BHAGAWATH GEETHA

Poojyashree Shree Amma and Mahaan Brahmashree Gopalavallidasan - Ammavin Thiruvadigale Sharanam!

Radhekrishna.Hinduism is an ancient religion. All the things that have been spoken in Hindu religion can be applied in practical life. Although in 21st century till everyone can apply this in his or her daily life. The aim of Hindu religion is to provide total happiness to everyone at all times (or any point of time). The essence of Hinduism is told in "Bhagawad Gita". In order to realize what is said in Bhagawad Gita it is a compulsory (must) to have an unconditional faith on Bhagawad Gita. So many people have benefited in their lives because of the (by reading) shlokas of Bhagawad Gita. In Bhagawad Gita, Bhagawan Shri Krishna has told the way to lead a happy life in such an easy way that even a normal layman can easily understand. The slokas are so simple that anyone can understand and use it practically.

YathkarOshi yadhashnaasi YajjuhOshi dhadhaasi Yath!
Yaththapasyasi Kountheya! Thathkurushva madharpanam!

In this world, we come across many inspiring manuscripts. Of them all, the most prominent is, Shrimad Bhagavath Geetha.
Bhagavaan Sri Krishna, Himself conveys the Jeevathma’s bountiful happiness in a most pleasing way. The longing happiness of the jeevathmas, the solutions for the fear in their minds are all presented magnificently only in Bhagavath Geetha. Of them the Shloka, “YathkarOshi yadhashnaasi YajjuhOshi dhadhaasi Yath! Yaththapasyasi Kountheya! Thathkurushva madharpanam! is a beautiful one. In this shloka, Bhagavaan Shri Krishna says beautifully and also in a simple way as to how one has to worship Him. For the past few months we have been elaborating about, “YathkarOshi”, i.e., “Whatever work one does, has to be done for the sake of God and how it has to be done”. From this month onwards, “YajjuhOshi”, i.e., Lord Krishna says, “Whatever you eat just offer it to Me”.

The main reason for the survival of our body is ‘The Food’. "Annaath bhavanthi bhoothaani". Lord Krishna says in the Geetha, that from the food only the prime elements are evolved. Hence, this food is very important. Only when this food is taken the body will be healthy. Only when a person is healthy, he will be able to do Bhakthi. Only when a person does good Bhakthi, he will be able to attain God. And only when a person attains God, he will be able to enjoy the happiness. Therefore, the basic reason for the eternal bliss is ‘Food’.

May it be a plant, an animal, human being, dEvaas (demi-Gods), asuraas (demons) or anything, each living being according to their body temperament and influence have varieties of food to consume. This food is the motivator for survival. This food is unique. Brahmaarpanam Brahma avi: The food which we consume is nothing but one of the many forms of Parabrahmam. Swami Nammaazhwar also says, “The food which we eat, the water which we drink and the betel leaf which we chew are all Lord Krishna”.  This food gives strength to the brain, body and the mind. But in today’s situation, we see that, in spite of having taken food, people are not peaceful and happy. When we analyze to see whether we get the ultimate result of this diet, the answer is, ‘No’. Why? What is the reason?

This food is taken just as a routine, whereas it has to be done as an oblation. Really, it is an oblation. While performing this oblation, one needs dedication. No work is perfect or complete without dedication. A work without dedication does not yield complete result. Food that is consumed should be eaten in a proper method. If asked for the proper method, then one should consume it only after completely dedicating it to God. A lion or a plant can never be bestowed with such a thought. Because they all have only five senses while human beings are blessed with the sixth sense that is, to do Bhakthi (meditate upon God). The brain has got the capacity to understand. Hence, we should live like a human being and not the so-called, goat or cow or any animal or plant.

While eating the food, one has to have in his mind that he is offering it for the Almighty. Lord Krishna says, even if one is eating the food for his hunger; just offer that food to Me. Well, then we are having varieties of food. In this rapid changing time of Kaliyuga, the food habits too have changed accordingly. These food habits change according to the place, country, cold climate, and hot or humid climate and also regarding one’s health condition at every stage. These food habits change at every stage during one’s life span. An infant’s food is different from that of the child who has just got all his teeth. At youth, the person eats another type of food, so also when the person gets old his food habits change entirely. When a person is healthy, his food is different from that of, when he is under diet restriction during illness. Therefore, the food has to be consumed at all times but the form of food varies from place to place. Under these circumstances, is it possible to offer everything to God? Can it be done? If so, whether it is right or wrong, this question arises in everybody’s mind. Lord Krishna Himself in the Bhagavath Geetha has told the answer for this question. Such is the greatness of Bhagavath Geetha.

YadhasHnaasi – Whatever you eat, offer it to me.  In accordance with the section of the society i.e. Brahmins, Kshatriyaas, Vaishyaas and Shudraas the food pattern differs. The food habits of the inhabitants of hilly regions, coastal regions and hot and humid place differ from one another. So, all types of food can be offered to God, which is the wish of the Almighty. Has it been done? We can come across many examples in the ancient history.

Of them, one of the examples is that of a ghost known as GhaNtaakarNan. Due to the effect of his past deeds, he was wandering as a ghost. To get rid off the ghost janma, he was worshipping Lord Shiva. He always hung a bell in his ears. He always disliked the words Narayana, Krishna as he had an aversion towards Lord Vishnu. Hence, he was wearing the bells (GHaNtam) in his ears and so was known as GHaNtaakarNan.
Once, he went to Kailas, the abode of Lord Shiva, bowed to Him and prayed for liberation from the ghost janma, as he found
it very difficult. Immediately, Lord Shiva said, “my child, I have no authority to give liberation as only Sriman Narayanan is empowered to give liberation. HE has now taken the incarnation of Lord Krishna in this Dhwapara Yugaa in Bhoolokha. If you surrender to
Him, you will be liberated”.  No sooner did he hear this, he asked as to where he can see Lord Krishna, how to see and what form He will be in? To which Lord Shiva said, as He has prayed to Lord Krishna to visit Kailas and it would be His privilege to receive Him. Hence, Lord Krishna is certain to visit and asked him to be near Kailas. One day Bhagavaan will come. Lord Krishna was described as blackish-blue in complexion, having lotus like feet, lotus like palms, lotus like eyes and lotus like lips and looked dazzling. Thus, Lord Shiva gave the description of Shri Krishna and also advised to chant the Naama of Krishna constantly. The ghost removed the bells from his ears, but still the name continued to be GHaNtaakarNan.

He was constantly chanting Lord Krishna’s name and was wandering near Kailash. One day Lord Krishna appeared the ocean of mercy, who heeds to the call of Bhakthaa. GHaNtaakarNan could see from a distant place and recognized Lord Krishna. It is only HE who is in the yellow-silken robes with lotus-like eyes, long uplifting hands, strong sturdy masculine shoulders with full of youth. GHaNtaakarNan rushed happily towards Lord Krishna. He felt, that he should offer something to
Sri Krishna. He was in thoughts for the same and saw a sage sitting nearby meditating. With the weapon in his hand he killed the sage and offered it on Bhagavaan’s lap. “Krishna! Accept it as your food and bless me by giving liberation”. Will anybody in this world give dead body as an offering?

It is in the shastraas: - "yadhanna: purushObhavathy thadhannaas thasya thEvathaa:" It is said in the shastras that one should offer the same food to his deity, which he is consuming for his survival. Since, GHaNtaakarNan is a ghost; he will eat only the dead bodies and so he offered the dead body to the Almighty. What a startling devotion! God was overwhelmed by his devotion, and said, “well, you at least felt to offer a dead body” and granted him salvation. Just by offering a dead body as a feast to God, he attained salvation. Being a ghost he offered a dead body, which Bhagavaan duly accepted and showered His blessings on GHaNtaakarNan.

It is said in the shastras that as per one’s caste and their food habits, one can worship God by dedicating it to Him. This is what Bhagavaan refers to as “yadhasHnaasi”. “Whatever you eat, just offer it to Me”. Let us see another similar example.

Once Lord Krishna Himself went as a messenger to Duryodhana for the sake of Pandavaas. Duryodhana had arranged for a royal feast for lord Krishna but HE refused to have it. When Duryodhana asked for the reason, Bhagavaan replied saying, “When one offers anything with love it can be taken otherwise it can be accepted during the last moments of one’s life. You have neither the love for Me nor am I in the condition of losing My life”. Hence, he refused to accept his food. There are certain rules as to which food should be accepted and where it should be accepted. Immediately, BheesHmar, Krupaachaariyaar, DhrOnaachaariyaar and many others invited Lord Krishna to their respective places. Bhagavaan refused their invitation and went all the way to Vidhura’s place.

Vidhura was a great Bhagavath Bhaktha. As Bhagavaan arrived at his place, Vidhura was to have his daily routine food, porridge from an earthen pot. Vidhura holding the earthen pot in his hand said, “O Bhagavaan, Krishna, I offer this food to you”. As he was offering it, Bhagavaan arrived at his place. When he knocked the door, Vidhura asked who is at the door and Bhagavaan replied, “It is me, Krishna”. How fortunate was Vidhura! He rushed to open the door and receive Bhagavaan. Vidhura could not believe his eyes. He was in a daze thinking whether it is real or a dream. Bhagavaan looked at Vidhura and smiled. Vidhura also looked at Bhagavaan and took Him inside the house and offered Him a place to sit. He said, O Lord! “I am so happy that You came all the way to this poor man’s hut. I am indeed blessed. Your mercy is really unimaginable”. Immediately, Lord Krishna stretched His hand and said, “I am very hungry, give ME something to eat”.

Though, he was given a grand feast at Dhuryodhana’s place, he refused to have it, but here at Vidhura’s place HE Himself asked for the porridge. Vidhura without hesitating offered the porridge to Bhagavaan. Whatever he was to have, he offered it to God. Bhagavaan too wholeheartedly accepted it and drank it with His own hands. There are certain norms to be maintained while eating too. Honey should be consumed by licking it from cupped hands. There are fixed methods to eat food. We should not eat haphazardly. Only then one would realize its effect. Porridge should be consumed from cupped hands and by bringing one’s mouth to the hands and not vice-versa. Similarly, Lord Krishna ate the porridge in this manner. While drinking the porridge it dripped out through His fingers. Immediately Bhagavaan brought out His other two hands also, as he is the four-armed. After bringing out His other two hands Bhagavaan collected the dripping porridge and drank it away. Vidhura realized the extremities of happiness as he had offered Lord Krishna his food with complete devotion. Bhagavaan willingly accepted it.

So the same way if you are giving your offerings to bagawan
S
ri Krishna surely he will accept it! Now it’s up to you.

Likewise, there are many more divine examples. Let us enjoy some of them in the forthcoming month. Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna…

4. THE DIVINE SONGS - DHIVYAPRABHANDHAM

Naalaayira Dhivyaprabandham

thuppudaiyaarai adaivathu ellaam sOrvidaththuth thuNai aavar enRE;

oppilEn aagilum nin adainthEn aanaikku nee aruL seythamaiyaal;

eyppu ennai vanthu naliyumpOthu angu Ethum naan unnai ninaikkamaattEn;

appOthaikku ippOthE solli vaiththEn, arangaththu aravaNaip paLLiyaanE !

(Periyaazhwaar Thirumozhi 423/1000/4000)

Meaning:-

Almighty! You have rested on the bed of five-headed serpant in Srirangam to show your power for protecting

those who surrender unto You. All my senses have lost its strength. I have surrendered to You. I am no comparison of those who surrender to You. Yet, as You had showered grace to Gajendra, an elephant, in the same way would request you to grace thyself too. As I will not remember you while in the deathbed suffering from all sorts of illness, I am putting my prayer forthwith.

Explanation:-

The human life’s tendency is to always be precautious. We reserve the train tickets in advance when we plan to go to any outstations. To lead a peaceful life for the later days people intelligently save money in the banks. But we never realize that we have to do something more than that which is necessary for the next janma (birth). Those who comment saying that, there is no re-birth (punar-janma) may stick to their views. Those who do not believe that effects of past janma’s deeds affect our lives also be left to their own views. That is the reason that some people are blind, deaf, lame, mental abnormal, insane, beautiful, poor or rich etc., only because of the result of the past janma’s deeds. It is difficult to accept the truth but it is a fact. So, there is an end to everything.

No one can stop death. But, we do not know as to when it will occur and in what form. Every one of us is scared of death. In this world everyone, be rich, literate or illiterate is afraid of death. The hardship one suffers during death is horrifying. Who can help us during that time? Parents, brothers, sisters and relatives would associate themselves as long as we are of use to them.

When they find that we are of no use to them they ignore us. At the time of serious illness leading to death, when admitted to hospital and given medical treatment, the effect of medicine is not in the nature of medicine, intelligence of the doctors, state of health but only due to the divine wish of Bhagavaan. So, if there is any companion during the last moments, it is only Bhagavaan. When one is in the robust of health boasts of their strength. But, when they become old and weak there is a general feeling that there is no one to take care of them. Will one get solace by thinking so? No. One has to prepare in advance. We do not prepare food when we are hungry, rather are prepared well in advance and consume only at the time of hunger. Likewise, one has to pray in advance to the Almighty for the protection of the last days. Just as the children ask their parents to get the things required for them, to wake them up in the morning, to prepare a certain dish for them, in the same way we should place our request to the Almighty in advance. Periyaazhwaar does so.

The divine paasurams of ‘Periyaazhwaar Thirumozhi’ contains amazing messages in the Dhivyaprabandham. He narrates the Krishna Leela Vaibhavam in the most befitting manner. Similarly, he enjoys Lord Ranganaatha, the presiding deity of Srirangam. Shri Ranganaatha was worshipped by Lord Rama Himself. Periyaazhwwaar puts forth his prayer to Lord Ranganaatha. This is one of the paasurams in such prayer. He surrendered at the feet of Lord Ranganaatha and worshipped Him in the temple. He was astonished at the sight of Lord Ranganaatha’s lotus like feet, pearl like toes, incomparable ankle,

Hefty legs, large thighs, most engrossing secret parts, silk robes, enigmatic naval, broad chest, enticing bosom. Who can describe the enticing bosom? Only those who have seen personally and enjoyed the beauty can describe the same. Rotund broad shoulders, long hands, lotus coloured palms with pearl like fingers, beautiful neck with garlands in it, lotus coloured lips, pearl like teeth, sharp nose, black wide-opened shining eyes, bow-shaped eyebrows, broad forehead, with kasthuri thilakam, curly hair with a crown on His head, is rested comfortably on the five-headed serpent bed in a most splendid way.

The moment Periyaazhwaar saw Lord Ranganaatha, tears in joy rolled down and the hair on his body raised in excitement. He lost himself at this sight. He repeatedly bowed down and prostrated Lord Ranganaatha. We must prostrate God as many times as possible. The purpose of human birth is only to prostrate at the lotus feet of Bhagavaan several times. In this way Periyaazhwaar prostrated Lord Ranganaatha. He looked at Bhagavaan and uttered O Lord!

thuppudaiyaarai adaivathu ellaam sOrvidaththuth thuNai aavar enRE

(Your power in protecting those who surrender unto You).

You are the only one possessing the capacity to protect the whole universe. So, I am surrendering You, one who has this capacity to protect.

oppilEn aagilum nin adainthEn

(Though, I am not comparable to those who surrender to You, I bow down at You).

I bow down at your feet and plead for protection. I do not know anyone else and am not familiar with anybody other than You. At once, Bhagavaan looked at Periyaazhwaar and asked, Why, My child, what happened to you all of a sudden asking for protection? Bhagavaan says that He had assured during His incarnation of Varahamurthi that, “those who remember Me when they are in sound health, steady mind and their veins and nerves functioning properly will be protected in the last days”

What is the need for you to pose this question? Immediately Periyaazhwaar replies, O Lord! I am not aware of the uniqueness like them. Although I am not fit enough to bow down and surrender at your lotus feet, yet I surrender.

Bhagavaan: Well, you have surrendered, what shall I do?

Periyaazhwaar: Protect me.

Bhagavaan: Why should I protect you?

Periyaazhwaar: As I have surrendered at your feet, you have to protect me.

Bhagavaan: Well, have I ever protected anyone?

Periyaazhwaar: Yes, Lord. You have protected.

Bhagavaan: Who is it?

Periyaazhwaar: Immersed in sorrow and at a stage when there was none to protect Gajendra, the elephant was rescued only by You. (aanaikku nee aruL seythamaiyaal)

Gajendra, the elephant who was in grief, helpless had surrendered at your feet and begged for protection. He cried for You saying, AadhimoolamE! Naarayanaa, AkhilagurO Bhagavan NamasthE.

You had protected him and in the same way you have to protect me also. Thus, Periyaazhwaar in this divine paasuram pleads to Bhagavaan to protect him in the last days as he places his prayer in advance. So the same way you also pray today for the better future.   Radhekrishna!

Let us meet next month with a different divine song of another great Aazhwar.Until then Radhekrishna!

5. SPRING OF SPIRITUAL SHOWERS - EXPERIENCES OF BHAKTAS, DISCIPLES OF POOJYASHREE SHREE AMMA, OUR GURUJIAMMA

An experience of a Shishyai (disciple) in her own words.

RadheKrishna

Jai Shree Poojyashree Shree Amma

Ammavin Thiruvadigale Saranam

Poojyashree Shree Ammavin thiruvadigale saranam saranam saranam

Radhekrishna... Radhekrishna... Radhekrishna... Radhekrishna...

We wrote some time back in Vedhanaadham about our experience and Amma has made us write again. We are leading a happy life by guru krupai. We can realize a huge difference in our life after we started following Amma's words. Even though there are many instances in which Guruji Amma has made us realize the happiness, we want to share one particular incident with you all.

We live in USA and wanted to send a few things to India through our friend. In the last moment we bought few items for Guruji Amma and for our satsangam. We handed over the parcel to our friend which included things to my in-laws apart from things to Guruji and our sangam. Our friend carried 4 suitcases to India. When he landed in India, he received 3 out of the 4 suitcases. All the things we sent were in the one suitcase that he did not receive. We were hoping that the suitcase will arrive. One week passed but they did not receive the suitcase. We prayed to Amma that they should get the suitcase.  As a part of our weekly satsang with Amma, we informed Amma about the missing suitcase. Amma said ' It will come now'. Once we heard this from Amma, we stopped worrying about the suitcase. 3 days later when we called our in-laws, they informed us that the suitcase has arrived. They also informed us that many of our friend's things in that suitcase were missing, but not even a single thing was missing from our parcel. We out cried in joy and surrendered our happiness to Guruji Amma.

Amma used to tell us to surrender all our emotions (fear, anger, wishes, anxieties, happiness etc ) to Krishna and be happy like gopikas. We did the same and realized the fruit of it.

Jai Shree Poojyashree Shree Amma.

Jai Shree Radhekrishna.

6. SAMARPANAM

parithraanaaya sadhoonaam vinasaya cha dhushkrutham

dharma sansthapanarthaya sambhavami yuge yuge

Bhagawan takes avatar in each and every yuga mainly to safeguard the bhaktas and then to destroy the rakshasaas who trouble his bhaktas. So Bhagawan comes to this bhoomi from paramapadham just for the sake of his bhaktas. Hence we come to know that bhaktas are very important to the Lord. Whenever Bhagawan comes to rescue his bhaktas, the other fellow people also reap the benefits.........

Our guruji amma gives high respect to all the bhaktas. Hence our Vedhanaadham's every issue will be dedicated to one bhakta. This issue we are dedicating to one of the aazhwars namely "Sri Annamacharya"

Sri Annamacharya

 Sri Annamacharya

The humble devotee who was the incarnation of Lord Venkateswara's Sword (naandhagam)

The gifted child of Smt.Lakkamamba and Sri.Narayanasuri.

The great devotee who born in the year 1408AD in a small village called Talapaka (Cuddapah, Andhrapradesh, India.)

The great composer who composed 32,000 Sankeertanas (devotional songs) and dedicated them to Lord Sri Venkateswara of Thirumala [seven hills]

The great person who was accepted as guru by King Saluvanarasingaraya.

The Great Saint who advised the king Saluvanarasingaraya that he should not insult the devotees, as the god himself gets hurt.

One of the Songs composed by Saint Annamacharya

Pallavi:  Tandanana Ahi Tandananapure Tandanana bhala Tandanana Brahmamokkate Parabrahmamokkate
Parabrahmamokkate Parabrahmamokkate ||

Charanam 1 :  Kanduvagu heenadhikamuhndu levu Andhariki Sreehare Antaratma Indulo jantukulaminta Okate
Andariki Sreehare Antaratma ll

Charanam 2 : Nindara raju nidrinchu nidrayu nokate Andane bantunidra adiyunokate Mendaina Brahmanudu mettu bhoomi okate Chaudalu dundeti sari bhoomi okate ||

Charanam 3 : Anugudevatalakunu ala kama sukhamokate Ghanakeeta pashuvulaku kama sukhamokate
Dinamahoratramulu tesi dhana dhyunakokate Onaranirupedakunu vokkate aviyu ||

Charanam 4 :  Korali Shishtannamulu gonunalukokate Tirusu dushtanyamulu tinu nalukokate
Paragu durgandhamula pai vayuvokate Varusa Parimalamu Pai Vayovokate ||

Charanam 5:  Kadagi Yenugu meeda Kayo yendokate Pudami Shoriakamu Meeda polayu yendokate
Kadu Punyulanu papa karmulanu sarigaud Jadiyu Sree Venkateswara Namamokate ||

Meaning:

Pallavi: "Tandanana" is a word giving the punch of rhythm in the song. Ahi, Pure, Bhala are the words expressing the excitement or ecstasy or appreciation. The absolute spirit is one & only one.

Stanza 1 : There are no differences of low & high. "Srihari" (A name of Vishnu. Vishnu is the form of God who is in charge of maintenance, protection of the good & destruction of the bad. In this context, Srihari is the Supreme Spirit) is the indwelling Spirit to one and all. All the beings in creation are one because the indwelling spirit in every creature is one and the same.

Stanza 2 : Sleep is same to all, be it a king or a servant. Be it a "Brahmin" (man of the highest caste) or "Chandala" (man of the lowest caste), the earth they live on is the one and the same.

Stanza 3 : The sexual pleasure is one and the same either for angels or for the insects and animals. The day and night are equal to the rich as well as to the poor.

Stanza 4 : One could afford to eat tasty food and the other the condemned food. But the tongues that taste the food are alike. An object of fragrance or an object of foul smell, the air that carries the smell is one and the same.

Stanza 5 : Be it an elephant or a dog, the sun shines alike on both of them. For the good and the bad, Lord Venkateshwara alone is "The Savior"
