1. The Divine Message - Message From Poojyashree Shree Amma - The Ultimate Liberator Bestowed By Lord Shri Krishna!

Radhekrishna!

Amma's abhayakarangal

Blessings to one and all in the world.

Radhekrishna! In our well-known sampradayam, once our Sadaacharyar Swami Ramanujar noticed his Guru, Shri ThirukOshtiyurNambi, in meditation. Whoever it may be, they need meditation. A Guru also needs meditation. His meditation is for the entire world to be in peace and harmony which is possible by a Guru alone. The Sathgurus keep meditating constantly for the welfare of their sishyaas and bhakthaas which is the only need and must to wash away the sins of the ordinary souls as a Guru alone can recognize their sins and wash it. Consequently, they are celebrated as Jagathguru. The ordinary people in a family may meditate for the sake of their children or spouse while, for a Guru, the whole world is his family and his only thought is their wellbeing in all respects. They do not have a family or home of their own and even if they have a family they consider them also one among the ordinary souls of this world and do not get bonded with them and the same can be learnt and understood when we read or listen to the history of the great Mahaans and Mahathees. Radhekrishna!

While Shri ThirukOshtiyur Nambi was in such a meditation and penance, Swami Ramanujar’s only thought and question within him was, the object of his Guru’s meditation (dhyaanavasthu). After a long observation to know the same, he placed the request to his Guru and asked the object of his meditation and also asked him what he would chant. As, there is an object for chanting and also an object to meditate and ultimately both the objects would end up in one object. The Sadaachariyaars and Gurus will give such a reply that their sishyaa’s mind is crystal clear and will bring them to such a situation that they do not have any doubt at all. It was simply Shri ThirukOshtiyur Nambi’s mercy and grace on his sishyan, Sri Ramanujar, to bring him to such a height. Such should be a Guru. Shri ThirukOshtiyur Nambi answered to Swami Ramanujar’s anxious question that the object of his meditation was his Guru, Shri Yamunachaariyaar’s back, which was as red as an earthen pot when put upside down, that he saw while he would take his bath. Shri Yamunachariyaar assured that his eyes and mind will never move away from this. He Said, my mind and heart is fully occupied in this object when I do any work. Is there any other object for meditation than the Guru? Hence, it is very intricately quoted from Ramayanam, that when one is engrossed on the lotus feet or the hefty shoulders or on his hair tuft, the person meditates the same as his object of meditation. One should be submerged in that part as his object of meditation on which he is deeply absorbed otherwise the mind will not be under control. Hence, it is referred that when a calf is tied to a piece of stick, it keeps moving round and round and finally stops at the same point. Such should be one’s meditation. Likewise, Shri ThirukOshtiyur Nambi was engrossed on his Guru, Shri Yamununachariyar’s back, which was as red as an earthen pot when put upside down. This was the reply by Shri ThirukOshtiyur Nambi to his sishyan, Swami Ramanujar’s keen and devoted question after a sharp observation.

Swami Ramanujar’s next fervent question to his Guru ThirukOshtiyur Nambi was, as to the name that he would chant, for which he replied that he would chant his Guru’s name, “Yamunachaarya” alone and nothing other than that. The dhyaanavasthu was his Guru’s back and the dhyaana naamam again was his Guru’s name alone. Soon, Swami Ramanujar understood as to what he should meditate upon which obviously was known to him. As in the Sampradayam, a Guru will never personally tell each one of his sishyaas or bhakthaas as to what one should meditate. As, Swami Ramanujar by no means will call any of his sishyaas and instruct him to chant his own name as “Ramanuja, Ramanuja……..” or, to meditate on his hand or shoulders or navel or the back or his feet. No Guru will do so, as it should not and cannot be done. It is only in this way it is made aware to the sishyaas.

Although, a Guru knows it crystal clear, he wishes the world also should be crystal clear with it and hence to meditate the dhyaanavasthu and chant the dhyaananaamam, he makes them aware of it and teaches it. When a Guru teaches his sishyaas to chant a manthra such as, ‘Rama’ or ‘Krishna’ or ‘Ramakrishna’, or any other name, it will finally end up in one naamam. Eventually when this nammam is summed to a whole naamam the person starts realizing what he should do and how he should be. When he fully realizes the naamam within him, he starts understanding the world and the duty he should perform. Till then the person does not know all this and he is in the process of chanting a naamam for some time and jumps to chant another naamam and yet another naamam. Whereas when a person realizes and reaches to the final or the Ekanaamam, it is said that the naamam has yielded its fruit. Gradually, the person’s behaviour starts changing when he is benefited by chanting a naamam. He becomes completely poised and is in tranquility. “Will the person’s eyes and mind ever search for any other thing than this? No, never”. This should be said by the Guru himself. The inner urge and the burning desire will make one realize the essence of chanting of the Lord’s name and attain the ultimate goal of dhyaanam. When one attains so, he will be blessed to have the sight of Bhagawaan. Bhagawaan and Guru are not different. Guru himself is the Bhagawaan and the Bhagawaan is Guru alone.

In those days, the words were different as to ‘Bhagawaan’ and ‘Guru’ and now, the people are changing its concept very frequently. While, the main secret is, when the person is benefited by the naamam, he starts realizing everything which is a very serene experience and feeling. Only then the person understands how he was jumping in ‘ego and I ness’ and at the same time will also realize how he should not be. As a result, the chanting (namajapam) has come to us for our life in such a simple form for our happiness alone. How compassionate are the Gurus on us to bless us with this chanting to do Bhakthi!!! Radhekrishna!!! Only by chanting we can do Bhakthi and attain everything. Hence, the Sathgurus always keep advising repeatedly to the people to keep chanting constantly. It is a small seed sowed by a Guru and when the same chanting is done sincerely; its result is much greater than the banyan tree. One of the world’s most popular banyan trees at Adayar (Chennai) is being spoken of its width and range that it has covered. Similarly, when one does constant chanting and understands its original essence, he well recognize how it works and also its result. Hence, each one has to do constant chanting. Swami Ramanujar, his Guru, Shri ThirukOshtiyur Nambi and his Guru, Shri Yamunachariyar attained each and everything during their lifetime by chanting alone. We too should follow the teachings of our Sampradayam and reach the ‘ultimate’. Our Gurus have taught it to us to attain and enjoy in the simplest way. Each one us should make its fullest use by doing sincere chanting. Radhekrishna! Radhekrishna! Radhekrishna!

Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna.

Radhekrishna.......

Poojyashri Shri Amma

Chennai, November 2005

Listen to Amma's divine message in Her own voice! (in Tamil)

(Our Guruji Amma is the embodiment of simplicity (saulabhyam) has been doing Sathsangam in all possible ways amidst her household chores to the mankind on whole and was thus rendering a sathsangam to a devotee of overseas on phone)

It is fortunate to listen and be blessed to Guruji Amma’s Sathsangam through phone irrespective of one’s domicile in any nook and corner of this universe and many more souls should yearn to enjoy this bliss! Since people are easily tempted to the uncivilized activities and are trapped in the web of movies, television programmes and some unpleasant magazines, more and more Sathsangams should be encouraged and attended to keep oneself engaged in the union of the Almighty, which is the only eternal truth. Just as hills are made of hard stones alone and its originality cannot be replaced, likewise Bhagawaan is the eternal truth and at a stage each one realizes this truth. Its no compulsion and even those who have disassociated will realize this truth. Such is the greatness of Bhakthi and Naamasankeerthana. Since, Naamasankeerthana is the Kali Yuga Dharma, there is no match to it. Radhekrishna!

2. Mahatmas - New Bhaktacharitras Each Month

India is the holy land with so many bhaktas (devotees). When we go through the Indian history, there must be a bhakta in every period. That is the greatness of this sacred land. Bhaktas are the role model for all the bonded souls. They enjoy their life in a perfect way. Bhaktas surrender themselves to the Lotus feet of Lord. By hearing or reading bhaktas' divine story, the bonded soul is enlightened to come out of the worldwide bondages.

Radhekrishna! Sincere chanting and listening to the great stories of devotees will surely give a peace of mind to everybody, even in this 21st century. So many people think that listening to the devotee's stories is a waste of time and there is no benefit at all. If somebody wants to realize the power of bagawan, first of all they must listen bhaktha charithram [stories of devotees]. There are so many advantages in listening to baktha charithram.

Radhekrishna! The Omnipotent Lord is extremely compassionate and is the ocean of mercy (Karunasagaran) on the mankind which never changes at any time. May it be Kruthaygam or Threthayugam or Dhwaparayugam or Kaliyugam or His innumerable incarnations or the places of the incarnations or the people who come along with Him during the incarnations may change, but His mercy on us is consistent. This compassion of the Lord, especially in this Kaliyuga is very prominent. The Lord has an extraordinary compassion on the people, who support His bhaktaas. That is the only reason all elders advise, that the people should always remain in the company of the bhakthaas, as we can unconditionally realize the mercy of the God. Even if the ordinary souls are not eligible to realize the mercy of the God, the reason that we are associated with the bhaktaas itself washes away all the sins with us. As the saying goes in Tamil, “Poovodu seerndha naarum maNappadhupolE”, (the thread which inherits the fragrance from the flower when threadled) is the only reason. Flowers possess certain qualities such as, fragrance, beauty and gentleness while the thread does not hold; yet the sole reason being that it mingles with the flower makes it achieve to reach the Lord’s magnificent body and hang on His neck. Just like a thread, if we too do not possess any ability and get the company of the bhakthaas, we too can certainly acquire the supreme fortune of climbing on the Lord’s shoulders. Therefore, each soul’s only need is, to be in the company of the bhakthaas.

‘Bhaktha Pralhada’, ‘Bhaktha Dhruva’ and many more bhakthaas exclusively attained Bhagawaan for the only reason that they were in the company of bhakthaas. ‘Srimathi Aandal’ too attained ‘Srirangam Shri Ranganathan’, as she acquired the company of a devotee called ‘Periyaazhwar’. A dasi called Dhevadevi too acquired the mercy of Lord Ranganatha for the only reason being in the company of Shri Thondaradipodi Aazhwar. ‘Kumbha Raana’ also acquired a place in the scriptures merely for the reason that he was the husband of ‘Bhaktha Meera’. ‘Hiranyakashipu’ being a wicked demon obtained a place in the annals of ‘Bhaagawatham’ and ‘Vishnu Puranam’ solely because he was the father of ‘Bhaktha Pralhada’ otherwise there is no need to illustrate about him elaborately in our holy scriptures. ‘Kamsa’ was a treacherous person, yet he acquired a place in the annals of ‘Bhaagawatham’ as he was Dhevaki’s sister and was blessed with ‘Krishnadarshanam’ wherever he turned. Hence, being in the company of the bhakthaas will at no time go waste. The same so-called, bhakthasangam (being in the company of bhakthaas) showed the supreme path to Thirumangaimannan also who was performing a pious work of Thadhi Aaradhanai (offering food) to the Srivaishnavas at least by looting.

Thirumangaimannan took up this sacred work for the sake of a Bhakthai called, ‘Kumudhavalli’ his wife, and developed immense respect, love, affection and devotion on the Srivaishnavas which gradually started overflowing. Thirumangaimannan, who was attracted towards women during his earlier days and who was only concerned about the bodily happiness and never realized the true love, later acquired ‘Aathmadhyaanam’. His affection on the Srivaishnavas whom he considered as his soul mates started growing more and more as they are our only true soul mates. The other friends or corporal mates, perform such an activity, that it hurts our soul and does not give any happiness; while the so-called soul mates, ‘Srivaishnavas’ wash away all our physical sorrow, soul’s sorrow, the sorrow concerned to the past birth, present birth and that of the old-age. Hence, they alone are our soul mates. There is no end to the supreme company with the soul mates as there is no end to the soul. Whereas, the body perishes at a stage without giving us any warning of its reason and time. The elders say that we can do anything for the sake of these so-called soul mates that is, we can go to the extent of killing anybody which means, when our only selfless attitude is firmly fixed in the thought of serving them the same act too will be considered as highly pious.

Generally, the act of looting is considered as an evil deed while, Thirumangaimannan also popularly known as Neelan, was seriously involved in the same for a pious cause here. Thirumangaimannan was deeply worried seeing the delay in acquiring God’s mercy when he was seriously in search of some wealth to make provisions for the Annadhaanam or Thadhi Aaradhanai (offering food to the bhakthaas). “MaranuNi Eruvaan”, who was one of his several ministers, was gifted with the caliber to climb on the edge of the tree top to sight out if anybody was coming at a distance. Neelan pleaded at “MaranuNi Eruvaan” and told him to look out if anybody was coming as it was already night and the time was flying off speedily. All of us have a sound sleep at night and when we suddenly wake up in the sleep to see the time as, 1.00a.m. or 2.00a.m. or 3.00a.m. and convince ourselves saying there is some more time to wake up and become happy. The people do have even the thought or the fear that they have lost the precious time and are immersed in sleep for most of their time as the paasuram goes, “Paadhiyum urangi pogum”. On the contrary, they convince themselves that there is some more time to wake up or vex by saying, has the time passed so quickly? Whereas the people do not agonize for not having had the Lord’s darshan which shows the desire or the enthusiasm in sleep. Certainly, if the same enthusiasm or desire is shown on the bagawath bhakthaas, one’s life would be blessed. Radhekrishna!!!
Thirumangai Aazhwar
Thirumangaimannan who was blessed with this immense enthusiasm to serve the bhagawath bhakthaas, pleaded his minister, “MaranuNi Eruvaan” to catch sight of any passerby at the earliest. The minister was always with Thirumangaimannan only with the intention to serve him, though not a great bhakthaa. Thirumangaimannan had firmly decided that the next day’s Thadhi Aaradhanai had to be performed at any cost. At last, the minister caught sight of someone on a horse who was richly ornamented at a very long distance with enormous brightness. The minister also saw a lady in a palanquin and some men (Kaingarya parargal) to serve them along with the person on the horse. Besides, he saw many bags and carts loaded with wealth. The moment the minister saw this, tears of joy rolled down his eyes and immediately determined that the next day’s Thadhi Aaradhanai would take place in a grand manner. What a surprise! The minister was blessed with joy for being in the company and just by serving Thirumangaimannan who was involved in a sacred activity of serving the Srivaishnavas. Radhekrishna! The minister’s happiness knew no bounds when he saw the treasure for the next days Thadhi Aaradhanai which he believed would positively take place in a grand manner. Certainly, an outstanding devotee!

The minister addressed at Thirumangaimannan, Oh, Sir! I can see a large group of people with a Brahmin on the horse, his wife in a palanquin and also lot of wealth. He added that all the people were lavishly ornamented and asked Thirumangaimannan to call for his other ministers and guards to obstruct their way and loot the wealth for the Thadhi Aaradhanai. No sooner did Thirumangaimannan hear this, tears of joy rolled down his eyes and felt God’s unconditional mercy and jumped in joy thanking God for answering his heartfelt prayers. Radhekrishna! The most amazing quality of Thirumangaimannan was that he would spend the entire wealth looted for the day’s Thadhi Aaradhanai. He never was worried or had the thought to save a part of that money for himself or for the next few days of Thadhi Aaradhanai. This holy activity gave him immense solace. Such was the greatness of the great bhakthaa Thirumangaimannan, who was in the blissful thought with tears rolling down his eyes. All the demi-gods were watching with tears of joy at Thirumangaimannan and his devotional ex-pression and also the mercy God showered on him. At a distance, he saw the Lord in the disguise of a Brahmin with dazzling, beauty.

The Lord, who came as ‘Rama’ to bless each human being including Vibhishana, came to Thirumangaimannan also. The Lord who came as ‘Krishna’ and rode the chariot for Arjuna, gave immense joy to Kubjai and also showered His mercy and gave moksha (salvation) even to the wicked Sisubhalan who just cursed Lord Krishna throughout his lifetime, came to Thirumangaimannan too. The Lord who came for Srimathi Aandal as Srirangam Lord Ranganathan and held her hand and married her by going around the holy fire also came to Thirumangaimannan. Radhekrishna!! The Lord, who came for the five year old boy, Bhaktha Dhruva by rendering His visual image and showered His mercy and blessings, came to Thrirumangaimannan too. Hare Krishna!! The ever merciful Lord, who took the incarnation of Lord Narasimhan to bless the young boy, Bhaktha Pralhada by bursting out the pillars, came to shower the mercy to Thirumangaimannan also. Hey, Karunasagara!! The omnipotent ultimate Lord of the entire universe, who protects each and every soul by destroying all the sorrows including the dhevas (demi-Gods), also came to shower his immense mercy to Thirumangaimannan. The ever-enchanting handsome Lord who came too Srimathi Rukmini, Lord’s consort, yearned to marry Him alone, described about Him saying, Oh, Lord! YOU, who could shower all the goodness on the souls at the fist sight itself, had recited the following verse leaving all her shyness as “ Roopam dhrushaam dhrushimathaam akilaartha laabam”, also came riding on a horse to shower His enormous mercy on His bhakthaa, Thirumangaimannan. The Lord’s consort, who always accompanied Him residing in His heart without being away from Him even for a microsecond as in the paasuram , “AgalakillEn irayumendru”, escorted in a palanquin. All the Nithyasurees and Nithyamuthar (one who resided in the Vaikundam) also accompanied Him as bodyguards and enjoyed the startling sight. Radhekrishna!! The blessed souls indeed!!

The remaining sathsangam will be continued next month. Radhekrishna! Radhekrishna! Radhekrishna!!!

3. Krishnam Vande Jagadhgurum - Extracts From The Holy Bhagawath Geetha

Radhekrishna.Hinduism is an ancient religion. All the things that have been spoken in Hindu religion can be applied in practical life. Although in 21st century till everyone can apply this in his or her daily life. The aim of Hindu religion is to provide total happiness to everyone at all times (or any point of time). The essence of Hinduism is told in "Bhagawad Gita". In order to realize what is said in Bhagawad Gita it is a compulsory (must) to have an unconditional faith on Bhagawad Gita. So many people have benefited in their lives because of the (by reading) shlokas of Bhagawad Gita. In Bhagawad Gita, Bhagawan Shri Krishna has told the way to lead a happy life in such an easy way that even a normal layman can easily understand. The slokas are so simple that anyone can understand and use it practically.

Gurujiamma & Guruji - Krishnam Vande Jagathgurum

Radhekrishna!! ‘Donations’, that are being done, are God’s mercy alone on us. Only when we are blessed to possess it by Him, we can donate it others. The matter to the noticed significantly is that HE blesses some of them with immense wealth and some other with nothing. It is HE, who becomes happy both by giving to the souls and also when he sees the souls who acquire the wealth who had nothing. Such is Bhagawaan’s divine law and startling play on this mankind.

Radhekrishna!! The only purpose of donation is that the soul should obtain peace. Donation should be done without ego or the ‘I’ conscious and have the clear thought that the person who receives the donation should also be as happy as the donator. There is immense happiness when a donation is done wholeheartedly. Donation should be done with exceptional dedication and humbleness.

Several Kings and Mahaans have donated in our sacred motherland, “India”. It is to be noted that, amidst several struggles too, Mahaans like Randhi Dhevar have made remarkable donations. He had shared a part of his food with the people who came at his door even when he was badly hungry. It can be significantly experienced that it gives peace to the soul. When the donation is done to a supreme soul then the joy derived from it cannot be shared by mere words as, they experience the God’s mercy while accepting the donation. The reason that the Maahans experience Bhagawaan’s divine mercy alone while accepting the donation brings joy to the ordinary souls who donate.

It can be truly noted, that in the daily life several things have to be considered as donation. A new born baby which is fed by the mother’s milk is also a donation. The child who accepts the same and the mother who feeds both get happiness. The parents, when facilitate all the needs of their child is also a donation. This is also a unique one. A wife, sacrifices everything to her husband leaving her home, family, friends, desires, and also her body. By sacrificing so, she attains peace and by accepting, her husband too acquires peace. There are several such dhaanams (donations). Likewise, a very auspicious dhaanam known as ‘Kanniga dhaanam’ can also be specified in this holy land, “India’ where, the girl child is nurtured in an admirable way and handed over to a supreme man at the appropriate age.

Whichever dhaanam may it be, should be donated with sincere meditation on God as it should be understood that, if HE had not blessed us with a thing to donate then there is no chance of doing that pious act. It is His mercy alone on us to be blessed to do so. Radhekrishna!!! One should acquire a thought that, I am instrument in His hands and the Lord is getting it done by me. I am not performing this holy act as it is purely Bhagawaan’s wish alone and I need no credits for it. Radhekrishna!!! The Omnipotent Lord alone is great above everything in this universe as HE is our all-time rescuer.

The most precious dhaanam (donation) in this world is the donation of “ManthrOpadEsam” done by a SadhAchariyar to His sishyaas which will never go waste at any time. It washes away all the vices of a soul and gives peace alone. Nobody on this earth can ever donate a superior dhaanam than this. Radhekrishna!!! Hence, the donations which we do are all very ordinary, that can just satisfy the material needs and that too not fully. Anyhow, we are blessed to do just a part of donation to the supreme souls which is advised will give immense peace when done sincerely. Mahathmaas such as, ’Randhi Dhevar performed the pious act of donation with devotion and sincerity amidst several impediments and experienced the supreme happiness. Hence, this act of doing donation is the gift given by God and is performed only on account of His mercy. Bhagawaan being the cause of this blessing and when done with His thought adds virtues to our deeds.

Radhekrishna! It is just like the parent who asks the child to offer the alms to the beggar though the child did not earn that money. The parent simply thinks that let the child earn some virtue by doing some holy act. It is the ultimate protector Lord, who gives the wealth to us and who has also arranged for a person to accept this wealth and perform the act of donation to earn the precious virtue. Hence, each one of us should constantly keep trying to understand Him and do the pious act of Dhaanam (donation).

  Radhekrishna!! Radhekrishna!! Radhekrishna!!!

engum pOy karai kaaNaadhu eRikadalvaay meendu Eyum

(Perumal ThirumOzhi – 692/1000/4000)

Meaning

Oh! enchanting eyed Lord of ViRRuvakOdu, who killed the dangerous elephant Kuvalayaapeedam, I have no other choice of place to rescue myself. My situation is just like the bird that returned to the ship in the middle of the sea amidst the mighty waves after searching for a safe place in the shore.

Explanation

Radhekrishna! We should have immense faith on Lord Vishnu, the consort of Goddess Lakshmi. There should not be an iota of doubt in that faith. Firstly, we should arrive at the thought that we have no other rescue except for Him. The normal attitude of the common people is, when they are unable to acquire or attain a certain thing, they immediately decide to jump over to any other next possible thing by them. That is, they lose their dedication and do not rebuild the thirst to reach the goal. If their opinions do not suit with a person they try it with some other person. This is the way each human mind changes and deceives; while in Bhakthi, one should not undergo such a change.

The human beings should fully rely on Him on and be His sole dependent, whatever may be the situation. They should catch hold of His lotus feet and the long uplifting hands tightly. Each soul should have within him such a tremendous faith over the Lord.  Sri Kulasekahara Aazhwar being a king considers his empire to be as a gift given by God. He very well knew that God will give everything as well as snatch it away within a moment. If there is something precious with us it should be considered as ‘Krishnaprasaadam’.  Because the God who gave it to us also knows to take it back from us. It is just like the child while playing happily with a toy when misuses it will lose it immediately as the mother or any elderly person will take it away. The child does not have the strength to retain the thing which it has. Same is the case with the human beings. Bagawaan blesses the mankind with all the goodness and when it is misused HE takes it back immediately. HE does it so that the people should know and realize its worth. Therefore, one should always know that he has to have humility throughout his lifetime.

Kulashekara Azhwaar

Sri Kulasekhara Aazhwar leads his life in humility at all times and firmly believes that God alone is prominent. That is the only reason that he rendered several paasurams and keeps praying to Him that at no cost will I be away from the Lord. He quotes different examples for this.

VengaNthiNkaLiRu adarththaay! ViRRuvackOttu amaanE!

engu pOy uykEn? Un iNaiyadeyE adaiya allaal

The presiding deity of the dhivyadesam, ThiruviRRuvakOdu (Kerala, South India), you possess incredible eyes and have performed a tremendous act of killing the elephant called Kuvalayaapeedam as it was dangerous and could not be controlled by anyone. It was the Lord who controlled the Kuvalayapeedam elephant at last. Likewise, who else apart from that Lord can ever wash away my past sins and ego? Who else excepting you possess that power?  Hence, Oh, Lord! Where shall I go? I have no other solace and have no other place for rescue. To whichever corner of this world may I run, I will come again to shelter at your lotus feet. Wherever may you hide Oh, Lord! I will come running towards your lotus feet as I do not possess any ability. He quotes an example for this as follows:  A huge bird was flying in search of a place for shelter just as the ordinary souls always keep searching in this ocean of Samsaaram (materialistic life) to rest. Right from the birth till the end the jeevathmas keep searching for a place to rest and if asked ‘whether they could get a place to rest, the answer would be as, ‘No’.

By God’s grace alone, after a long time, the huge bird which was searching for a place to rest found a place on the ship in the mid-sea. It sat on the flag of the ship thinking of taking rest for some time. After resting for some time, it felt very much comfortable, relaxed and at peace. After resting for some time, the bird thought of flying off to some other better and comfortable place to rest. After flying for a long distance from the ship, at a stage it felt tired and realized that it would never get a better place than the flag-post of the ship to whichever corner of the world it flew. So, it returned to the flag-post of the ship.

engum pOy karai kaaNaadhu eRikadalvaay meendu Eyum

vangaththin koombu eRum maa paRavai pOnREnE.

Having no other scope for resting the bird returned to the ship with a consolation. After resting for some time, again it went searching for some other better place and returned back to the same old destination. Thus, it tried to get a better place to rest and searched for it in all the eight directions and failed to get a better place. There was no other better place than the flag-post on the ship which could give solace, happiness and peace to the bird. Here, Sri Kulasekhara Aazhwar compares himself to the bird that, just as the bird returned to the ship alone despite a scrupulous search likewise, he too would return to the Lord’s lotus feet alone to whichever corner of the world he goes and adds that just as the bird would rest on the ship till it reaches the shore, similarly, he too would rest at the Lord’s lotus feet alone. Because the Lord alone is the source of his life and he has nobody to take care of him. What a wonderful experience!

This shows Sri Kulasekhara Aazhwar’s extraordinary and deep faith on the God. Therefore, the Lord’s lotus feet are the only abode which is the safe place for us to take shelter and above all is also a comfortable and happy place. Nobody else other than God can give us this comfort and happiness. There is no other shore than the Lord’s sacred feet. His holy feet alone are the boat for us to sail in and cross this ‘samsara sagaram’ (materialistic life). Hence, catch hold of His lotus feet tightly with complete faith and be His only dependent forever.

From this Deepawali onwards, fix a firm thought in your mind that the Lord alone is our only source of survival with supreme faith, just as, the 16,100 Gopis who firmly believed that, none other than the ultimate, Lord Krishna was their protector, when they were imprisoned by the treacherous demon called Narakaasura. When you live with such a faith then, surely Lord Krishna will take you along with Him. Therefore, do buildup that faith within yourself at the earliest. Radhekrishna! Radhekrishna! Radhekrishna!!!

5. Spring Of Spiritual Showers - Experiences Of Bhaktas, Disciples Of Poojyashree Shree Amma, Our Gurujiamma

An experience of disciples in their own words

Jai Shree Poojyashree Shree Amma

divine eyes that guard us continuously

Radhekrishna... Radhekrishna... Radhekrishna... Radhekrishna.

Jay Shree Radhekrishna
Jay Shree Poojya Shree Shree Amma
Jay Mahaan Brahmashri Gopalavallidasar

One can’t and will not be able to express the significance of Namajapam and Guru Krupa which the Guru showers on shishyas, in words or in action – but one has to experience it himself / herself. With blessings of Poojya Shri Amma and Guruji, I myself wish and try to briefly narrate our recent trip to Chennai which was possible only because of the  blessings of our revered Poojyashri Amma and Guruji.

We booked train tickets for myself, my husband and my mother for 29th July '05 by Dadar - Chennai Express starting from Dadar, well in advance to attend the 80th birthday function of my Uncle & Aunt at Chennai. The programme was for 2 days on 2nd & 3rd of August 2005 in a hall in Mambalam (Chennai).

By the blessings of our Guruji, a thought came in my mind that on this auspicious occasion it would be apt if a Satsangam would be conducted at the hall on the evening of 2nd Aug 05 by our Guruji who was also then in Chennai only. Accordingly, after seeking the blessings of Guruji, the Satsangam was fixed.

My grandmother resides in Kakallur (about 2 K.M. interior of Tiruvallur). Tiruvallur is one of the 108 Divyadesams and the God is Vaidya Veeraraghavar in Ananthasayanam posture. Since we would reach Chennai on 30th evening, with the blessing of Guruji, myself requested & invited Guruji to Kakallur for Satsangam in the Sivan temple in the morning, short break at my grandmother’s house & then in evening have darshan of Tiruvallur Veeraraghavar Perumal and then a further Satsangam at this temple. Accordingly, Myself spoke to Guruji about this and after seeking Guruji’s blessings all arrangements for these 2 satsangams were made through my uncle at Kakallur and the date was fixed on July 31st Sunday. Since it was not possible to arrange the evening
Satsangam at Veeraraghava Perumal Temple, it was fixed at the Siva temple
in Tiruvallur at 6.30 p.m.

Since we would reach Kakallur on 30th July night, my plan was - on 31-8-05 early morning go to Tambaram and return along with Guruji to Kakalur by 9.30 a.m.

All of us know that unexpectedly on 26th July, 05 since morning it rained heavily till next day morning and the unprecedented rains flooded Mumbai city and suburbs and other parts of Maharashtra and total dislocation of road, rail and air services. Large portions of railway tracks were submerged and got damaged, roads were flooded and there was also water-logging in the runways at the airports. Office goers and other public could not reach their homes in the evening and they either stayed back in their offices or got stranded on the way/railway stations throughout the night. All mail trains starting from Mumbai were cancelled on 27th & 28th and incoming trains were terminated at Pune because of floods and damages caused to tracks. Local train services were also disrupted.

Radhekrishna - Myself contacted Guruji and was told not to worry and to continuously do Namajapam. On 29th morning also local trains were not running on time and it was raining now and then (not heavily). In the morning when we checked at Dombivli Rly.station, we were informed that mail trains starting till 9.00 a.m. were cancelled. So we had some hope that our train would start at the scheduled time.

Radhekrishna - Then myself contacted Amma and Amma told me that “my
blessings are with you & you are coming to Chennai, do namajapam”. We continuously did namajapam. In the afternoon when we checked, we were told that trains starting till 7.00 p.m. were cancelled. Again on checking at 7.00 p.m. I was told that all the trains on 29th were cancelled. Radhekrishna - Then we were not knowing as to what to do. On the one hand Guruji’s Satsangams have been arranged; and on the other hand we were not able to proceed to Chennai. We got very disappointed. Then while discussing ourselves, we thought of trying for air tickets as a last resort. We then contacted the agent and enquired about the services and if we would get tickets on 30th itself. After checking he informed that IA tickets were available for early morning and night flights. About resumption of services, he said that the runway has been almost cleared and flight operations started but not as per normal schedule.

Radhekrishna - we booked tickets for 8.30 pm flight and the agent told that the
check-in time is 7.30 p.m. and he would handover the tickets at the airport at 6.30 p.m.During the night and in the morning also it was raining (not heavily) and in the morning on 30th all local services were disorganized. Myself informed Guruji about booking of flight tickets and the situation. Then Guriji said “after morning there is an afternoon. Do namajapam.” At about 10 O’clock, as per Amma’s instructions Bajan was done from 11.00 a.m. till 12.30 pm.

Poojyashri Shri Amma

Radhekrishna - By the time the Bhajan concluded RadheKrishna – the rain completely stopped and the sky become clear and the God Suryanarayana appeared. We learnt that local train services also started. With the blessings of Sri Amma and Guruji we started at 3.30 p.m. so that we can reach Kurla station by 5.00 p.m. and from there reach the airport by cab or auto in 20 to 25 minutes. Our train reached next station Diva at 3.40 p.m. without any problem. Then after just leaving Diva station it ran very slowly for one minute and stopped We thought that for want of signal the train stopped; but even after 10 minutes the train did not move. Then we saw people walking along with tracks. On looking out we could see two trains ahead of our trains. Then we understood from the people walking that there are 4 trains ahead of our train and the engine of the 1st train failed & it would take at least one-and-a-half to 2 hours to repair.

That means our train will not move before 6 p.m. Tension mounted and I immediately contacted Guruji and told the position. Guruji asked us to keep cool and pray. We also thought of getting down and walking to next Station Mumbra so that we can go by Auto to Thane and from there by rail or cab to the airport. But walking itself to next station along the track would take one hour plus we have luggage. We did not know what to do. RadheKrishna. Myself again contacted Guruji and were advised to continue the namajapam.

We did so and at last the train moved at 5.30 p.m. We reached Kurla station at 6.35 p.m. When we engaged a cab, the driver told us that the usual short route is closed because of bandh called by the local people due to no power & water for last 4 days and they have to take a long route to the airport. Apprehending the possible traffic-jam, we decided not to engage the cab. We engaged Auto and reached Airport by the normal route without any problem. It was 7.00 pm then. The agent delivered the tickets to us and by 7.30 we reported for check-in. The flight was delayed and the departure time was shown first as 9.30 pm and then as 10.30 p.m.

Radhekrishna – At last with the Krupai of Amma and Guruji, we landed at Chennai at 0.25 hrs and directly went to Mambalam. Next day morning we reached Tambaram at 6.45 am. Sought blessings of Amma and Guruji & Appa.

Our return tickets by same train was on 4-8-05. Again because of rains on 31st and 1st August in Mumbai, all trains leaving Chennai to Mumbai were cancelled. On 3rd also the trains were cancelled. On 3rd evening when we sought blessings of Guruji Amma before our return to Mumbai, Amma blessed us for a comfortable journey. Guruji advised us to book a call-taxi and not to depend the local train in the early morning hours to reach Chennai. Accordingly, we booked a call taxi and left for Chennai
Central at 5.45 am on 4-8-05. We reached Chennai at 6.15 am and our train left Chennai at 7.00 a.m. The train was literally empty. We also learnt that – Radhekrishna - our train was the first train to run from Chennai to Mumbai after cancellation of services for last one week or so. Radhekrishna – By the blessings of Amma & Guruji we reached Kalyan exactly at 7 am next day without any inconvenience. Radhekrishna Radhekrishna Radhekrishna Radhekrishna!!

6. Samarpanam

parithraanaaya sadhoonaam vinasaya cha dhushkrutham

dharma sansthapanarthaya sambhavami yuge yuge

Bhagawan takes avatar in each and every yuga mainly to safeguard the bhaktas and then to destroy the rakshasaas who trouble his bhaktas. So Bhagawan comes to this bhoomi from paramapadham just for the sake of his bhaktas. Hence we come to know that bhaktas are very important to the Lord. Whenever Bhagawan comes to rescue his bhaktas, the other fellow people also reap the benefits.........

Our guruji amma gives high respect to all the bhaktas. Hence our Vedhanaadham's every issue will be dedicated to one bhakta. This issue we are dedicating to one of the greatest Maharishi - Shri Vedhavyaasa.

Vedhavyaas

Shree Vedhavyaasar

The fortunate son of Shri Parasara Maharishi and Smt. Sathyavathi.

The incarnation of Lord Krishna.

The great saint who edited the single Vedha into four parts as Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharvana.

The ultimate sathguru who wrote the secrets of Vedha as “Mahabharatha”.

The perfect sathsishyan who followed his Guru, Naradha Maharishi’s words and wrote Srimath Baagawatham for the welfare of human beings.

The fortunate father of Sri Sukha Brahma Maharishi.
